Hamburger Heaven by Wong Herbert Yee is a fantastic book about ensuring that you include everyone when making decisions.

The illustrations have an old fashioned feeling to them, so I had to check when this was written...1999 so a bit ago, but not the 1950's. :0 But the illustrations are appropriate for the story. Hamburger Heaven is a diner and Pinky the Pig works there, sweeping and cleaning. But business is very slow, and Pinky may have to be let go. She really wants a clarinet, she has a plan and won't give up yet. So she makes new menus for the diner, delivers the menus all over town and the gathers the items the chef will need to make these new deluxe hamburgers...ingredients like termites (for the aardvark), beetles (for possum), acorns (for squirrel). The animals all love the new menu and everyone is happy. Cute rhyming story.
