Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-19 00:00:00 Michelle Dees I started this book almost exactly one year ago! It was slow going because the subject matter was such a hard one. What a difficult book Mr. Lyon wrote. One cannot easily imagine a more difficult subject matter than the struggle for life, and those who are forced to make decisions for their helpless loved ones. The author did a good job of presenting both sides, although his bias for one of those sides certaily shone through. Whose wouldn't? Throughout the entire book, i kept thinking he was writing from a perspective that was more distance than nuance. That is why his conclusion at the end shocked me so deeply. To see that this was a topic near and dear to his heart gave me an entirely different perspective of him and his writing. I had such strong opinions for only one side of this coin. Now, however, any judgment i had once expressed so liberally and forcefully has been replaced with compassion for parents who find themselvs in the most horrible predicament with babies they love so much. |
