What is fact and what is fiction? According to the introduction, it’s supposedly a documentary, but since the author dosen't bother to devote a single paragraph to disclose his research methods we’ll never know. Our maybe he is omnipresent, since he apparently knows all about what’s going on in the characters minds. I picked up the book since it promised to dwell into the whole "it’s our time to eat" mentality underpinning the crime wave after 1994. However the motivation of the proprietors of violent crime is not the subject of this book. Instead we get the life story of two small time business partners in Johannesburg, which to be fair was an interesting read, but not what I was looking for.

I laughed and laughed. It's black as heck ('scuse the pun) but omg sooooo funny! And so reminded me of that old ditty we used to holler when we were kids: Ohhhhh... this is the place for me Jo'burg Where the lickerish lights always shine And the ricky-ticky-tickey train down by Fordsburg Where the mine hooters tell me the time!
