Review # 1 was written on 2011-05-25 00:00:00 Richard Lubbers This is another great one by BC!!! I just loved it. The Duke calls for his niece to be brought to his castle in Scotland. The heroine is the nieces guardian as her brother in law had been disowned by his family and the nieces parents have died. She takes her but not happily since they treated her brother in law so shabbily. The heroes wife has been missing for 7 years and he cannot remarry until they find her or her body so the niece is his heir. The mystery of what happened to her is easy to guess but it was still an entertaining read and I loved it. My Cartland Binge event continues.

Review # 2 was written on 2017-08-08 00:00:00 Lisa Bonet I'm reading this as a part of The Eternal Collection: 51-60. This is number 60. 2.5 stars. I didn't mind this much. H didn't come across as a rake at all, just a bit of a closed off jerk. Once you learn about his back story, you understand why. However, had it been more fully developed, I think I would've liked him a lot more. The h was a little bit of a ninny. I find that most of BC's heroines are. They profess love for their heroes and then promise that if they can't have them, they'll remain celibate and loveless until the day they die. I don't like that much. However, the plot was alright enough. The mystery was pretty obvious, but at least there was something else going on other than just the MCs falling in love with each other. The resolution was more logical and less random than the ones in some other BC books.
