Date design, actually vibes older than it is. Might be good for nostalgic readers. Definitely good as a mentor text or for any educator or parent who likes to explore themes and motifs. I love how this editor includes 'The Bell Hill' by Julia Fields and her own 'New Year's Eve: Opelousas, Louisiana' about January in the warm south, no snow or even coats. There's even 'Here She Comes' which is illustrated as taking place in India. My favorite poem might be 'First January Walk' by Emanuel Di Pasquale. I also appreciate that these poems were commissioned for this book, except for 'The Year' by Felice Holman from The Song in My Head. That means this book is valuable just because we're unlikely to find these works anywhere else... so if your library has it, check it out to discourage them from weeding it.

I love this series of illustrated holiday poetry books edited by Livingston. As with other collections, I always like some poems better than others, and that's fine! I just love having a dedicated collection for so many different holidays. The illustrators are always excellent and this reminds me I still need to track down a copy of the Halloween & Valentines Day collections.
