Friendship between Alicia Timberlake, a court stenographer business owner, and Jack Devlin, a marketing manager, was turning into a one-one-one relationship. Will Alicia let go and let love in? Or perhaps Jack will give up on pursuing this independent/stubborn woman. A cute story with a HEA. I gave this book a 3.9 star rating.

Alicia and Jack, a complicated melody Before you get to the main characters let's talk about the sub characters. Daphne the sister you love to hate. The woman for how pampered she had been let you know that how having too much of a good thing truly can yield bad results. Then you have Martha and Marvin, who truly are a great example of family not only needing to be blood. Now, back to the main story of Alicia and Jack . I will say the pace of the story is a little slow. The time period doesn't read as early 2000s, even with the flashbacks of years prior. Alicia's repressed memories definitely shaped her into the woman she was at 35. Lot to handle when you seek to justify so many things without a clear picture. Jack lovely Southern gentleman, who really was the support Alicia needed in her time of need. The story once you get into it, makes you want to know more. Especially after drops the bomb shell on Alicia. It's funny how family secrets can have the greatest impact once revealed.
