I was torn between loving and hating this book. It came way too close to truth but then twisted with a happy perfect little ending that makes it completely unbelievable. Yes pastors are human and therefore have human urges but she gets her role as pastor because her husband died. This could be possible I guess under special circumstances but it reads like it's a natural and common occurrence. Then she's willing to throw her beliefs out the window so she can have sex and justify it claiming there's nothing wrong because she's in love. This is also common for people to do when they find themselves in the situation, even right after teaching their young charges premarital sex and being with a non believer is a nono. What makes it worse is that the man who is a non believer is the one to refrain because of her beliefs even though she begs him and tries to convince him that it's ok. Then after a church meeting where the people are split in regards to her unseemly behavior as a pastor as is what would most likely happen if they all didn't just toss her out . One person in the hierarchy of the church says it's all good and 3 days later, she's married to the guy and everything is hunky dory. When this kind of thing happens in real life, if they keep the pastor on, there are consequences that are enstated for the pastor, like counseling. And there is a division in the church. Loads of drama far beyond a slight reprimand and everyone goes back to normal. Not all churches hold their pastor to the higher standards the Bible calls for, but the book leads us to believe this is a church that would. That some parishioners aren't even happy about having a female preacher. This would blow the church to smithereens. Then the fact that he is an unbeliever and only mentions God to say that he thanks God for her being in his life. No personal relationship with Jesus. And tada, they are married and living happily ever after. The hypocrisy is believable because of human nature. The simple acceptance of the church. Not
