Review # 1 was written on 2012-08-19 00:00:00 Vaughn Ford I actually read parts of this series back in the 90s, and I remembered bits of the story. It took me a while to pin down the name of the series, as that was eluding me. So I found the whole series of paperbacks on eBay...and I'm reading them in succession. We'll see if they're any good... and I'll have to find out why I couldn't forget some of the characters and happenings in Crystal Creek, Texas. This is the beginning of the series which is written by several authors. J.T. is the patriarch of the McKinney family. He's in his mid-fifties, and he's got himself a younger woman - much to the bafflement of his grown children, who are the close to the same age as his fiance. In this first book, we get a setup of the ranch, the town, and the supporting characters. Since there was so much setup, the main relationship - J.T. and Cynthia - lacked depth. We get a summarizing of their relationship development and how it gets thrown into the stew pot as Cynthia tries to fit in with J.T.'s family. We get the high points of their growth, and that's about it. Since the next books are written by different authors, I'm curious to see the differences in development. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-11-13 00:00:00 Carlos Maia Very soapy .. are all continuities like that ? BEST book covers of a series .. with all the quilts .. imagine they sold lots of these books. Alyssa is main figure (and Edward). Mystery of Margarets death is solved. Nice wrap-up epilogue. |
