I enjoyed this book... I've not read anything else by this author before, so this book can definitely stand alone. I've read other books in this Steeple Hill line before, and not been very impressed, (as the "religious" parts often feel to me as they've been stuffed in after the fact by an editor or something & don't really "fit" into the story). This book had characters who exhibited a very believable faith, and it had a storyline that made me want to keep reading. I found myself really liking the hero of the story (although sometimes the heroine wasn't my favorite person!) Definitely held my interest, and I've looked up a few others by this author also.

A Bride of Honor is the eighth single title Ruth Axtell Morren has written for the Steeple Hill line. Her blend of facts and story is seamless, creating a read that entertains and educates. I especially like how Morren isn't afraid to tackle issues that are every bit as relevant in today's world as in the past. Her main character, Damian Hathaway, is physically limited with a wooden leg. His situation is dealt with in a realistic manner, including all the emotions and hardships such a challenge might entail. Another tough issue she brings up is miscarriage. This is one author who does not gloss over or shy away from tough subject matter. The hero, Damian Hathaway, protects the woman he loves even at great cost to his career and reputation. What heroine could resist that? Certainly not Lindsay, though it does take her a good portion of the book to realize just how much he's actually sacrificed for her. One of my favorite secondary characters is Jonah Quinn. He speaks his mind no matter the cost. That's a quality we all admire but are often afraid to emulate. Overall, A Bride of Honor is a great book to toss in your beach bag this summer for a Regency era getaway. Be sure to look for more titles in the future from Ruth Axtell Morren.
