Following the death of the beloved aunt who raised her as her own, Honor McCall flees the only home she has ever known to escape her uncle's unwelcome attentions. Her penniless flight into the unknown sets off a series of events that will lead the young lady to a new town, a job with caring employers, new friends, and possibly even a chance at love. Most importantly, the path she chooses - while fraught with danger, deceit and heartache - ultimately brings her face to face with the God she has known only as a distant deity, to be feared and revered. That He might truly care about Honor McCall is a new concept to the girl, and one her distrustful heart has some trouble accepting - especially since she can't imagine herself ever forgiving the uncle she fears and detests. She's not exactly the picture of a perfect pastor's wife ... can the handsome minister she falls for ever love someone with a past like Honor's? Winter Pearl is far and away the most captivating historical romance I've read in a very long time. Molly Noble Bull's writing style is warm and real, and her true-to-life characters move across the pages almost visually. The story is tightly woven, and includes rich, accurate details of its historical era. This page-turner is a pearl of a tale, and the author strung each literary bead with precision and care. A must-read!
