Why this woman couldn't get a job somewhere else is beyond me. Again, very contrived. 'Daddy doesn't want me, so I'll go to his arch enemy, who just happens to be closer to my age and drop dead gorgeous and we'll live happily ever after'. I've hidden this review due to spoilers, although I doubt very much anyone picked up this book not knowing what would happen in the end!

Tempest has always disappointed her father. So when he refuses to promote her given her scandal-ridden past and his lack of trust in her, she seeks out his greatest competitor, Gavin Renard, to get him to hire her so she can prove herself. Gavin, in his company, is aiming for her father's company so he can buy it out and dismantle it for revenge. And although he sees the opportunity to use Tempest to obtain his ends, he refuses to hire her. He doesn't discount the possibility of an affair though. Finally, the author provides an epilogue to finish out the story, which was a definite plus in comparison to some of her others. However, this story had a very awkward relationship development. Gavin and Tempest immediately are attracted to one another, but it almost feels like they're more emotionally invested at the start than they should be. Tempest's attitude toward Gavin and her asking very personal questions suggest she's been in his life for months instead of having just met him. There are moments right there at the start where she's hurt by something he says as though she was greatly disappointed in him (having known him for 30 minutes). And I still can't figure out what Tempest was thinking when she approached Gavin, knowing that he was going after her father's business and what his reputation for destroying companies is. It just doesn't seem logical for someone who is supposedly proud of the company and loyal to it to support someone (even suggest working for) someone who wants to destroy it. I couldn't fathom what she was thinking... And why did she expect he'd make an exception for her company? It's not like she didn't know what he was about. Seems she wanted to change him or something. There didn't seem to be a lot of clear thinking on her part. Also - a little disappointing that she spends all this effort and tries to prove herself by being a PR executive, and completely gives up on that altogether to become a fashion writer for Vogue. It felt like she gave up...might have felt different if it was something she'd always wanted to do or where her true interests actually were.
