Review # 1 was written on 2021-06-12 00:00:00 George Taylor I had such high hopes for this one. Just look at that title. Black widow usually signals a strong, but misunderstood heroine. Unfortunately, the heroines reputation is covering up her martyr ways and single-minded focus on the undeserving hero. The only reason the Black Widow sobriquet persists is that the heroine suffers from lockjaw and hero jumps to the worst conclusions with gold medal precision. Honestly, this woman is a pushover to everyone. What saves this story is the intricate plot that turns a lot of tropes inside out especially the secret baby. The author does a masterful job of spooling out information at the right time to keep the reader guessing. I did enjoy learning the truth of the situation. Too bad the main characters werent all that appealing. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-12-16 00:00:00 Jonathan Wilson This book... it is pure Mexican telenovela material. It could teach a thing or two to the writers of those shows. Unfortunately for me, though I did enjoy watching loads of telenovelas, this book did not work for me, however similar it was. The only thing I did enjoy was reading it in Spanish, it was funny and it took me a while to get used to it since it is my first book in said language, and that is why I'm giving it two stars instead of one. |
