Review # 1 was written on 2010-02-11 00:00:00 Patricia Landry Her cousin died and left her a boat, despite knowing she's afraid of them...And the water. Lucky for her she has a marina bum for neighbor that just might make her forget her fears for a while...If only she didn't suspect him of pushing her cousin down the slippery slope into alcoholism and drugs...And if only her cousin's death wasn't shrouded in mystery...And if only she wasn't so attracted to the aforementioned marina bum. What is a girl to do? Cute little story, though not as good as the previous two in this series. As it were it's tough seeing this one in contest with the Redstone Inc. series beside the slight connection the hero has to Josh Redstone (and the slight mention of the hero in the previous book). The romance and suspense took second stage to the hero's torment after his terrible experience in the Nicaraguan jungle, and the heroine's incessant nagging about how her cousin was a good guy, despite all the proof to the contrary. It was that blind (and rather stupid) fate and denial that made me dislike Emma just a tad too much. Along with her misconceptions about the "marina bum" and her jumping to conclusions without any proof, just to support her theory about what a good guy her cousin was. The romance, once they gave it a go, was solid and sweet (though laced with a little white lie about who Harlan really was), but the suspense seemed thrown in only as an afterthought. But this is a Silhouette Desire book, so it had to be expected. A solid, sweet, and a little sad little story, but I can't wait for this series to swerve back into more suspenseful waters. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-08-25 00:00:00 Bhakti Dave Midnight Seduction is one of Justine Davis's earlier books, part of her Redstone Incorporated series. I really enjoyed it. I've read the others, though it's been a while, but I had not read this one. That was nice because everything was a surprise to me. And I was very surprised at the end.:) Also, even though it was a bit older book, it wasn't at all dated. As always, Justine Davis writes a great combination of suspense and romance. |
