Theres a minor boo-boo in the back blurb. It says, Kristie adopted her late sisters baby, BEN, but the name of the kid between the covers is JAKE. Before the final printing, HP editor mustve thought BEN was too generic & decided to change it but neglected to correct the error on the back cover =^2 Kristie is hired by Radfords wheelchair-bound sis, Felicity, to be her wedding planner. When the hunky millionaire Radford shows up & his hyphenated last name is revealed, it dawns on Kristie that hes Tarahs ex squeeze. Radfords laser beam zooms in on her & sparks flow, as in, insta attraction in his case & insta animosity in her case. U see, this is the same dude whod allegedly dumped Tarah, her beloved late sis. Kristie has hated him for 6 yrs, sight unseen. Kristies been wanting to see the culprit whos to blame for Tarahs death so that she can let loose her wrath on him. Now that they finally meet, she gets tongue-tied & all shook up. Seeing her shot to pieces, Radford dismisses her as incompetent, but his sis & mom wanna retain her cuz Kristies highly recommended. Radfords mom offers Kristie sweet accommodations. Shes provided w/ a rent-free office in their mansion & a car @ her own disposal. Damn, I had no idea wedding planning is a lucrative job, I think Im in the wrong line of work hahahaaa Radford is puzzled by the negative vibe oozing from Kristies pores. She rebuffs his romantic overtures @ every turn. She treats him like a mental punching bag & he doesnt even know why cuz she clams up when asked. He assumes hes been tarred w/ the same brush cuz mayhap he resembles the man who had badly traumatized Kristie. Hes determined to prove that he cant be lumped into the same mold. When theres a rival for her affection, Radford shifts his wooing gear into full throttle. He becomes more determined to win her over, as long as the rivals ring isnt on Kristies finger yet. Defeatist attitude is a big no-no in his book. Lil did he know that hes been condemned as THE (The Hated Enemy) by Kristie based on Tarahs tear-stained diary, which paints Radford as a heartless villain & liar. Radford has never liked kids cuz his cousins children are hellraisers, but when he meets Jake, something tugs @ his heartstring & he realizes that Jake can be the key to open Kristies heart. He gets the shock of his life when he sees a pic of Tarah on the bedside table while they're having their 1st luv session. Kristie finally spits out the bombshell that hes Jakes dad. Will he succeed in convincing Kristie that he really luvs her & they can be a happy family if only Kristies willing to let go of her hatred & see that her sis was not the pure innocent victim that Kristie had always thought all these years ? After having problems liking the heroes in the previous 2 MM books I read this week, this time its the heroine that was a turn off. From the prologue, the heroine didnt endear herself to me w/ her thoughts, cuz the moment the surgeon delivered the devastating news that Tarah had just expired, Kristie immediately wished it was the baby whod died, not her sis. Kristie didnt care bout the baby. Whoa that didnt sit well w/ me @ all. The prologue ended w/ Kristie wanting to kill the babys daddy, whoever the hell he is. What a bloodthirsty wench. She cemented it by threatening to push Radford down the stairs @ 1 point. Shes a shrew, so rude & antagonistic all the time, calling Radford names & plotting her revenge by keeping the big secret bout Jakes paternity. Ugh shes just a bitter pill, spiteful & vindictive. When Jake starts to question her bout his dad (cuz all the kids in school has a daddy & hes the only who doesnt have 1), Kristie ponders if she should marry her platonic friend to provide a father figure in Jakes life. There were moments where I mentally scratched my crooked wig, cuz I couldnt see what Radford sees in her. I dunno why he even bothers to put in so much time & effort to pursue Kristie or how he even comes to the realization that hes irrevocably in luv w/ her, when she avoids him like the plague & shows him her disdain every chance she gets, as if hes a gnat that just wont go away. Radford came across as a glutton for punishment, w/ his relentless amorous thoughts & actions to tip the scale more favorably towards him. The word Hormone got scattered too many times in the book that I was beginning to think the H/H were afflicted w/ a hormonal imbalance =^S Kristie is rude to him from the get-go, as if shes biting the hands that feed her, but her bark is worse than her bite. I didnt think Radford really knew her, its purely sexual attraction, not luv. She wouldnt let him get to know her better, no matter how hard he tried. Usually HP heroes are the judgmental ones (w/ mental as the operative word), but in this case, Kristie grated on Radfords nerves (and mine) cuz she was such a cold, calculating, ungrateful beyotch throughout the book, as if she got a baton the size of Jupiter up her @$$. The only redeeming quality 'bout her that Radford sees, is her wonderful child-rearing skills, 'cuz Jake is a polite & luvly kid. Her logic made no sense @ all, just 'cuz her sis died of complications from C-section, that didn't mean Radford snuffed the life outta Tarah. Her thought process was CUCKOO. How the hell was he to blame for childbirth gone wrong if he had no idea that he fathered Tarah's baby ? < rolls eyes > I wonder if I should persevere cuz Im glomming on MM books, still got a few in TBR pile.

Ebook. Blogger Bundle 2. Pretty good story about a woman, Kristie, who's raising her dead sister's son. Kristie carries a terrible grudge against the boy's father, so sometimes her dialogue and reactions seem quite extreme. But Radford turns out to be an awesome guy.
