I hated that, for most of the story, the hero was obsessed with the OW who jilted him years ago and that he mercilessly and selfishly pursued the reluctant heroine then dumped her as quickly as he could after finally seducing her, all because the OW had soured him on all women. It was disgusting that he kept the OW and her husband (his own cousin!) on a string, with their lives intertwined, for years and years, because he loved to make them squirm at the awkwardness of it all. He admitted that he didn't know if he hated or loved the OW because she was such a combination of good and bad. The man was obsessed!!! And consequently, it is fair to say he never got over the OW because he never again let himself get close to any other woman, including the heroine, who he wanted only an affair with, and the reason he pursued her more was simply because the heroine was so hard to get. She wasn't playing hard to get. She was genuinely weary of getting herself involved with this reputed manwhore after getting burned by her ex fiance, also a manwhore. Hero didn't care that heroine was reluctant, that she was emotionally vulnerable, that she had recently been massively hurt and still on the rebound, or that she was a virgin with old-fashioned ideals about love and marriage. He made fun of those ideals, calling her a cold calculating machine instead of a woman. He stalked and manipulated his way into heroine's life even blackmailing her with a threat to her job if she didn't spend time with him. And he had the gall to frame it all as an exercise in healing the heroine from the hurt of having broken up with her cheating fiance. What a Prince! I really liked the classy, smart, and vulnerable heroine. Poor thing got a raw deal from her chauvinist dad, her slime-slurping ex and the scum-swilling hero of the piece. It was just too much! As usual, there is only the bare minimal of grovel at the end, and once again, the selfish hero's love confession is all about how HE feels, that he would feel lonely for the rest of his life, that he would never stop thinking about her etc. She took him back not because she is a spineless doormat, she really wasn't, but because she was simply honest enough to admit that she has never stopped loving him, flaws and all. The only good thing I can say about the HE A is that I don't think he will cheat on her because he has proven that, far from being a playboy lover, he is a one-woman man. The fact that the OW was the "one" woman for most of his life was just irksome but I guess we should be happy that the heroine will now be his one and only.

i got bored and annoyed wid dominique's elusiveness! she wanted rory yet did not want him! as for rory, he was only after an affair. he shud have left dominique well alone as she had been left at the altar! she needed careful handling and compassion, not another heartbreak!
