Review # 1 was written on 2013-06-13 00:00:00 David Dean The story was not all that interesting, and there were a number of problems that bothered me. It wasn't exactly bad, just not particularly good. The hero seemed decidedly unrakish, despite the book's title. He seemed, well, a rather normal sort of gentleman. He drank to excess, sure, but that wasn't exactly unusual, and he was depressed at the time. And I don't even know how the author made up their rules of address. The hero was supposedly the Marquis of Pelham, and introduced himself as such a few times, but everyone called him Lord LastName. And both his mother and sister were also referred to as Lady LastName, when they should have been Lady Pelham and Lady FirstName, respectively. The language was somewhat anachronistic, including the dreaded (well, for me, anyway) Regency "okay." |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-11-06 00:00:00 Angel Batallan not bad at all. It won't disappoint you if you want the classic story about a ladyman, who can't stand the word marriage, and a well-mannered young lady, who wants both a marriage and passion. |
