I recently read this book again as I needed something light. It delivered, but upon second read I feel like it is more like 3 stars- all the "manly ____(choose: body, chest, whatever)" made me eyeroll me eyes so much they hurt. Still, nice one, I've read way worse. If you want something light, fun with a good relatonship and all it's a nice afternoon read on a busy day.

I mentioned in a previous review that I have been reading a bunch of mail-order bride romances . . . and yes, this is another one that is similar to that theme. It's kind of funny what will pop up as recommendations in my Google Play library, and then I get hooked in the preview chapters despite the sometimes corny premises, titles, and covers. Anyway, I LOVED this one--it's one of the better ones out there. Hannah and Cale just stole my heart just as much as they made me laugh out loud. In this book, Hannah is on the run from her controlling father who wants to marry her off to the son of a business partner in a merger that will unite two powerful families and two powerful companies. But Hannah wants nothing of it. Her solution? Leave the groom at the alter, board a steamboat, and find HER OWN husband who can't be bribed by her father and is intimidating enough to protect her from anyone who will stand in the way of her dreams of independence out west. She finds Cale, a half-Cherokee bounty hunter, who is freshly in from a mission with the local law enforcement. From the moment he caught her outside his hotel room door, he is caught off-guard by her beauty and her unexpected wish to marry him--and only him. He's unused to anyone like Hannah (from the "upper crust") paying him any attention at all since most people view his profession and his parentage as "less than ideal," to put it kindly. So he makes her a deal--he'd marry her, protect her, and help her find her true talents in the west if she will stay with him long enough as his wife to help him infiltrate a Texas town in pursuit of a man who killed his half-brother years ago. They agree, and what follows is a highly entertaining and hilarious western/romance adventure. Hannah is gorgeous, determined, and so grateful to Cale for help that her devotion for him quickly shifts to love. Cale is instantly protective of her, the only person who has cared at all for him in a long, long time, and the way he helps and encourages her and sees her value beyond her pretty face melted my heart. His nickname for her ("Mags" or "Magnolia"--since she was a southern belle before she found him) also grew on me and showed his love much more than the usual terms of endearment. Anyway, this was a very fun read that I return to every so often to read my favorite parts. It's a good time adventure-wise, and it melted my heart at all the right times and in all the right places.
