Jessica Leonardo's parents are Spanish Jews who converted to Catholicism in Venice to avoid trouble. Jessica is a devout Catholic with a strawberry birthmark on her face. To avoid being branded a witch during the inquisition, she always wears a mask in public and rarely leaves her home where she is a gifted masseuse/healer. Francis Bardolph is an English spy in Venice masquerading as a Lord (he's a bastard son of nobility). When they meet (to make his shoulder feel better) both are attracted. Francis woos Jessica as has never been done to her before, but his mistress (for political info) gets very jealous and turns Jessica in to the Inquisition. Sentenced to die, Francis gets her out of Venice to England where his paternity comes out and Jessica is accepted for her, not her birthmark. Interesting settings, clean - medium story.
