Review # 2 was written on 2012-12-20 00:00:00 Shane Talbert I'm rarely ashamed of calling dimestore romances one my guilty pleasures, but this book certainly makes me see where they get their reputation for being god awful. The Protagonists while very nearly flawlessly good people were so dull, and annoyingly obtuse. The plot was needless drawn out to a unsatisfying and FAR too simple resolution. Worst of all though was the writing. I have been hiding Harlequins and sillouttes under my mattress since I was in pubic school, and the sickly sacchrine prose of 'Lady Thorn' made me queasy. Strugggling through to the end was lie trudging through candyland after a bad syrup storm, I shudder to think of the mess involved with Victorian sex lives considering all the "cascades of shimmering, glittering completion". Do yourself a favor and give this one a big ol' miss. |
