A book that is FUN to read! Cherry wants to distance herself from her dysfunctional parents and to be "accepted" in "society". So when she and her sister, Liz, win the lottery it is the perfect opportunity to move to Florida and reinvent herself, with the aim of joining the Mystic Beach Womens League and be a member of the elite. However, she didn't count on meeting Luke, the mechanic who although she finds absolutely totally irresistable, does not fit into her plans at all. For his part, feelings are mutual but because he was once hurt by a "rich bitch" isn't exactly eager to take things further with Cherry. What you get therefore is the romantic standoff - everyone knows they should, but they just refuse to do it! As Cherry is trying so hard to distance herself from her roots, it comes as no surprise therefore when her father, who left the family years ago, suddenly turns up on the doorstep - and yes, it does mean trouble for Cherry and her plans to join the society set. With sister Liz (who adores dressing up and has a particular penchant for wigs) to help her, she has to enter into a wager to pay off her father's debt to a mob-type figure and protect her imprisoned mother. All this, of course, without anyone finding out about her past. What you get is a marvellous cast of characters, including a dwarf hitman who loves tampering with cars and especially Yogi the mysterious artist who refers to himself in the third party. I loved him, and in my mind, for some bizarre reason, I had him pictured as Johnny Depp in his Willy Wonka phase! I did have to do one spot of googling, being English I was totally unaware that it is said that tomato saucec can get rid of the smell of skunk spray. To sum up, a good fun romantic comedy which is nice and quick to read, can be read in one long sitting. Have fun!
