This is the end of the line for me and this author. I thought I could go through all her books, good or bad, in chrono, since they havent been reviewed on GR, but I give up with The Male Animal. Though her earlier books were so-so to good, the books get progressively worse with time, at least by my standards: cheating, OWs, villainous actions without any comeuppance, purple-prose-tastic, and typhoons of tackiness abound. In this story, the heros two sisters connive with OW to totally humiliate his pregnant wife, with whom he has just recently reconciled after a torturous separation. The three witches of Eastwick invite the wife, their mom, all their relatives, friends and colleagues for a surprise birthday party at heros house, but the surprise is on them when the OW pops out of heros bedroom in a Fredericks of Hollywood red lace getup. THE WITCHES NEVER GET ANY COMEUPPANCE! Not even a meek confrontation by the hero let alone an apology and some very needed public humiliation of their own. Whats worst than that though is the hero never goes after his pregnant wife, who ran out of there crying, then hopped on the next plane back to her hometown and filed for divorce. He is not mad at his sisters or his OW. He is mad at his wife for not having faith in him and swallowing the adultery setup whole. It takes a plot moppet who wants to be adopted by the hero and heroine to bring these two knuckleheads back together and give me the final cue that my relationship with this author is DEAD.
