The hero is a successful lawyer, in his thirties, who sees a young woman needing his help in court. In a matter of weeks they are married. She is an orphan and he had wealthy but selfish parents. He is blindsided by having a wife who wants a baby. She overhears him telling a friend that he made a mistake. She leaves and begins her life many miles away. She is broken-hearted. Months later she has to go to LA on business and goes by the lawyers office to sign divorce papers. He stb ex is there. He has a bad case of the flu and is on medication. Her car wont start so he drives her to a restaurant where he drinks some wine. It interacts with the medication and he becomes woozy. She drives him home. In his nearly unconscious state they make love. He has no memory of it but she gets pregnant. She goes back home to continue her life. When she realizes she is pregnant she decides to have the baby alone. At some point she will tell him but not now. He comes to the area on business and brings her a necklace she lost. He thinks another man got her pregnant and wonders how he can leave her alone at this time. It all works out. This is a very cut and dried retelling of a very good book.

5 Stars ~ I love books that have an epilogue; and books that have a note to the reader from the author. This gem, has those wonderful elements plus a prologue that sweeps you into the world of Nicholas and Samantha. This is a love story of soul mates who knew each other instinctively yet managed to make a mess of their relationship. Ms. Wilson had me emotionally involved from the first pages right to the very last sentence. This is one for the keeper shelf. I'm already looking forward to reading it again :) Dear Reader, As a mother of three, I have always been struck by the power of babies to change their parents lives forever. Whether they are planned or a surprise, as tiny and helpless as they are, from the moment they exist, they profoundly alter the world around them. In That Night We Made Baby, Samantha Wells is shocked, then thrilled to find herself pregnant with the child of her ex-husband, a man she will always love but knows she will never see again. Nicholas Viera believes he has the life he wants and needs. He knows where hes going, what he wants, and is certain Samantha is his past, and children will never be a part of his future. Little do both people know, but the best-laid plans of expectant parents are far from set in stone. What they think they want is no match for the tiny life that is a part of both of them, a life that comes with the ability to change or erase every plan theyve made. So, I invite you to share in the story of Samantha and Nicholas and a very unexpected baby who rearranges the future for all of them in That Night We Made Baby. Mary Anne Wilson .
