Abby and Prescott have been communicating online for months now on scientific related topics. They go from being friends to wanting a closer relationship. However, this is not possible because Prescott travels a lot because of his job. Because of the way they present themselves online, they both dont realize that they already know each other from work. Abby has been asked out several times from this coworker who is really Prescott. Abby doesnt accept his invitations even once but from her observations or their talk, she forms the opinion that he is arrogant and flirtatious. She doesnt like him. She does say yes to him for a scientific related event where they wont be alone. But around this time, she is still communicating to Prescott online who asks her to marry him. Abby cancels with Prescott but does so through a letter that is not nice. This makes Prescott angry. The story begins with Abby on the plane, having quit her job and giving up her apartment to marry Prescott. Prescott was given a job at a base in Antarctica and wont be able to speak to her online for about 4 months through the program they have been using to communicate. So he lets her know that he loves her and that he can bring her along if she marries him. There, they can spend time together and even research on the continental-drift together. They are surprised when they meet face to face once the plane lands. Despite the discovery of they really are, they go ahead with the marriage. They start out having a good time as they spend more time with each other in Antarctica. We see progress, but then suddenly their past arguments resurface due to something they both said/did to each other when they were coworkers. As a result, for a while they ignore each other. The story got a little boring around this time, but it picks up. There are a few reasons I didnt give this a 5. First, throughout the story they argue about their identities, how they behaved as coworkers, and about their feelings. It got very confusing since in a way, Abby introduced herself using a different name and gave a couple of details that are not exactly how she is in real life. So there are two identities there and because of the names Prescott uses he also has more than one identity or sort of a role in the story. So as they argue, it sometimes becomes confusing what exactly the other felt and in which role they felt this. Secondly, and this is the main reason the story didnt get a 5, is that I wanted actual scenes of them together as coworkers before the wedding. I wanted to see real dialogue at their work place when they didnt know they were actually communicating online already. We are told from Abbys point of view that Prescott was annoying and arrogant but we are not exactly shown this. I would have liked to see what exactly caused Abby to not like Prescott. We know Prescott asked her out several times but got angry only after the letter and the cancellation of the date Abby does agree on. But I didnt exactly see a reason for Abby to hate him. Perhaps, it was because she is shy and a little unsure about her looks, but it still didnt explain her hostility towards him. Overall, I liked it. It was sort of like enemies to lovers type story but just needed a few things done differently as mentioned above to have a 5 rating.

Very good book. Abby is the quiet and smart one of her three sisters. She considers herself to be plain and unremarkable. When she starts on online correspondence with a fellow scientist she doesn't expect anything more than friendship. When he finds out that he is going to be spending four months in Antarctica he asks her to marry him and join him there. Even though she'd never done anything like this before, she said yes. She was stunned to find out that he was a coworker whom she never gotten along with, and he was just as surprised by her. However, he had been drawn to her from the beginning and now had to decide how to handle this marriage. I really liked both Abby and Prescott. Abby had a chance to break out of her shell and be a different person. I liked the way that she made an effort to do more than just work and got to know the people she was with. I also liked the way that she was trying to give her relationship a chance. As she and Prescott took the time to actually get to know each other as people she found there was a lot about him that she really liked. She also realized that she had fallen in love with him, but didn't have the courage to tell him so. Prescott was angry at the deception at first, but as he got to know Abby better he discovered there was more to her than he had realized before they got to Antarctica. I loved the way that he appreciated all of her layers and how he came to love the whole woman. Both of them did a lot of growing while they were there. I thought the ending was really neat.
