Divorced, merchant marine officer meets shelter dog rescuer heroine when his disabled mother adopts one of her rescues. He is a workaholic who prioritized and continues to prioritize his career over his ex-wife and their son. Son grew up to be a spoiled teenage brat from hell who throws wrenches in his dads courtship of the heroine. Heroine has her own emotional issues from being abandoned then adopted into a family that later was able to conceive biological children and ended up prioritizing them over their adopted daughter. It was all supremely boring and not even the cute rescue dogs managed to save this story for me :(

Kissed By An Angel is a struggle of desperation to find the meaning of life while being crushed by the guilt of survival. Kristi, a flight attendant who should have been aboard the flight that crashed and killed her best friend and her fiance, fights against the guilt-laden feelings caused by "It should have been me" thoughts. USAF pilot and current commander of the Blue Angels, Scott is overwhelmed by the horrific memories of his plane crashing in the jungles of Vietnam and losing sight of his co-pilot and best friend, Kahuna. Both desperate to rid themselves of the nightmares plaguing their memories and sleep, they find each other on a deserted stretch of beach in the middle of the night. Clinging to each other for friendship, understanding, and eventually love, they search their souls for peace. Being used to strong female figures, I find the character of Kristi slightly irksome because of her lack of gumption and her co-dependency on Scott. Regardless of my feelings about Kristi, Kissed By An Angel is a charming tale of life reborn out the ashes, like a Phoenix. Though the plot is highly predictable, the characters draw you in for a warm embrace and leave you with the satisfaction that they are going to survive.
