Review # 2 was written on 2019-07-15 00:00:00 Kenneth Poirot I was given an ARC in return for an honest review. Cathy is the step-daughter of a wealthy businessman. She yearns to find the one person who isn't dazzled by her wealth and wants to know about her. When she meets Rafe under less than normal circumstances, she's hooked. Can she convince him to ignore the glamour and see the woman underneath or will she forever be stuck as the 'wealthy daughter '? Rafe is tired of working for someone else. If only he had enough money to start his own business. When the job opportunity of a lifetime lands in his lap, how can he say no? Only one problem, he has to keep his identity a secret. No problem...that is until he meets Cathy. Now Rafe must struggle with his duty to see him through this job or risk it all on that slim chance of happiness. The story is pretty much given away when you first open the book, so it doesn't leave you guessing how it goes. I had a problem with that as left little room for my imagination to work or to build any anticipation. I enjoyed the story but the development of the characters left something to be desired. The quick pace of the story is good for those who don't like to linger, but I need more conflict/resolution. The events happened to fast for me and I didn't feel that they fully resolved their issues. On the other hand, their daughter was really willful. I'm not sure who was the parent but she had a lot of free rein. I liked Rafe but he seemed controlled by his emotions. Cathy seemed independent but really lacked backbone. Otherwise, this story is not to bad.
