Beauty and the Beastmaster Carol Devines Beauty and the Beastmaster is an enjoyable read primarily because the conflict is different from what is generally presented in the beauty-and-the beast trope. This story might be considered an enemy-to-lovers romance of sorts, as well. The story is written in 3rd person in the POVs of both Bram and Amanda. I liked Bram, the Beastmaster, very much. He possesses that combination of alpha-maleness and vulnerability that I like to see in heroes. Amanda was likable too. For those on the hunt for the highly sought after strong female, she has that attribute without being too over-the-top with it. I especially liked the scenes involving one of the big cats and the ways in which the author used these scenes to advance the romance. The initial push-and-pull between Bram and Amanda worked is realistic, and the turning point from this, the initial conflict, is nicely done and wonderfully unique. The romance buildup was also handled well. It is because of these aspects of the story that I gave the book four stars. There is one incident at the beginning of the story that didnt work for me, but that particular incident seldom does. The resolution of the final conflict could have been stronger, but I was glad to see Bram and Amanda get their HEA. I will add that their story covers about the first 65% of the book. The remainder of the book is dedicated to excerpts from Carols other books. I am considering reading another one of her works, in hopes of its possessing, in some way, the same subtle originality present in this story.

Saw this pop up on a friend's reading list so grabbed it myself as I admit to a love of wrestling/wrestlers in my youth. Like went and was quite vocal at the few events I attended: Goldberg all the way baby. This was more a 3.5 rating for me but involves a fav topic of interest so bumped up. Enemies to lovers premise with the added draw that pulls in animal rights and political family dynasty.
