From 1985 this was a stinker - the heroine is what one would call extremely high maintenance who besides her good looks - she was a model has no other redeeming characteristic - she's snotty, not a particularly good employer - why on earth the hero pursued her is beyond me and why he carried on courting her when she blocked all his advances just irritated me - he was always smiling or baiting her and I just wanted to yell at him, so she's beautiful, aren't there other goodlooking women around - do you have to settle for this unfriendly sod. Did not stand the test of time and i can't remember if I enjoyed this when I first read it.

"The Devil To Pay" is the story of Emeline and Julian. A sweet story with a closet author h, who decides to break into a beach-house one foggy night. Her plans go awry when she is caught by the H and his dog, who appear to be following her. He then appoints both of them her companions, and the reluctant h has to agree because they won't stop chasing her.. Pretty determined and obsessed H, confused and loyal h and VERY hot lovemaking. The highlight of the book was definitely the doberman Xerxes, who stole my heart every time he behaved like an adorable puppy. Other than that, an average read with a divorced couple, who find happiness with one another. Safe 3/5
