It All Started: Jillian wanted to spend the Christmas Holidays with Harrison - her fiance. She asked Karen - her friend, if she could use the cabin. It belonged to Karen and Jim. Well, Matt asked Jim if he could use it. So this is how the whole mix-up started. So, Jillian went there fixing up the cabin - cleaning it - so it would be perfect for Harrison. But he never showed - up. When she got there, snow was coming down heavy. She kept looking for Harrison to come, but he never did. Until much later. Then the electricity went out, and the telephone went out a little later. If Matt hadn't been there, Jillian wouldn't have known what to do. His survival and quick thinking skills saved them both. It also might be why Jillian fell for him. She knew Harrison couldn't have done that. Jillian had a great holiday being snowed in with the - wrong man. They ate together - cooked - slept - and played games together. More and more - Jillian - Matt - called her Jake - started catching feelings for Matt. In turn - Matt - was feeling the same way about her, but he tried to hide it. He even came right out and said Harrison - Harry he called him once - was all wrong for her. Finally, Harrison showed up after the snow cleared. He also came at the wrong time. He thought Jillian was cheating on him. It turned out that the electricity was out, so Harrison felt better. But - Jake needed to talk to him, and Matt gladly left her to it before he did. By the end of that discussion, Harrison left in a huff, and Jake was single. Matt was happy, but he tried not to let Jillian know. She found out in the - end. After Christmas was over and Harrison left, Jillian wanted to pack up and leave. Matt was so used to her being there that he wanted her to stay. He even did - said things to keep her around. In the end - she left. But, Matt was determined to see her again. He had fallen in love with her. Jillian didn't want to see Matt again because she was in love with him. He didn't feel the same way - or so she thought. Was Matt in love with her? She was in love with him, but she didn't know he felt the same for her. They did meet again and went out for New Year's Eve because of Matt's persistence. He wouldn't take - no for an answer. Then, they almost slept together, but Matt pulled back after he found out Jake had never been with anyone. He couldn't do that to her. He would have felt guilty. After that night - the night Jake almost said, "I love you" - Matt never saw her again. He called, but she wasn't home. Did Jillian move on? Can Matt? That was the moment when Matt realized he couldn't do it anymore. He had to make some decisions and tell Jake the truth. So between Matt and Karen's plan, they got Jake back to the cabin. Back where it all started. After Matt's confession, Jake was on top of the world, even if her shoe got - stuck in the mud. Nothing could bring her down. Matt proposed - and Jake got her happily ever after.

Hey-yo welcome back to another entry into "oh my god teen Lexie wtf were you reading". I can see WHY Teen me would read it, but gosh I guess cynicism is catching up? Or maybe a change in beliefs. Teen me was 70/30 on marriage, with the larger part against it, but I also was big on following societal norms (when it came to my one supposed romance) so I assumed if I did find a partner marriage would inevitably happen. Lexie of now is kind of like "but why?" so I side-eyed Jillian's constant talk of marriage and wondered WHY Matt was certain he wasn't husband material. Dude just tell her you want to keep it casual. Anyhow he also came across as a prick while Jillian was a drip so this is no longer a keeper.
