Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-20 00:00:00 Kenneth Van Buren Part travel guide (albeit a peculiar one), part compilation of writings by authors from various eras, each with a connection to the Eternal City, reading this book will fill you with a indescribable nostalgia for a Rome you may or may not know, a Rome that may or may not still be there for you to visit. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-08-15 00:00:00 Jisang Kim Tremendous variety of authors / interviews / other writings about Rome, with travel information related to each. Chapters are somewhat disjointed, but treating each chapter as stand-alone rather than integrated helped. Having just returned from Rome, I enjoyed the literary items more than the travel, but I agreed with most of the travel recommendations which by happy accident I had seen. It is also possible to scan the chapter headings and read only those which appeal to the reader. |
