I enjoyed every bit of the book itself. To be honest, I did not expect to be so thrilled by what I would find inside the texts. Although I did not manage to look at the sources and the questions concerned, I am positive that this is the right piece of writing for those who would like to prepare or simply learn more about U.S. history in the first seven decades of the 20th century. It was quite impressing to me that I could find several interpretations of world historians, thus, historical events became more vivid for me. I also liked the realistic interpretations, and the descriptions of what certain historical figures looked like and wanted to do, let alone their attitude and behaviour in politics. All in all, I can recommend this book of almost 400 pages to everyone who is interested in U.S. History. I was not quite, but the way it is presented in this writing, I might reconsider my point of view in connection with 20th century history.

Superb Marxist framed history of the USA in the first 3/4 of the 20th century, emphasising economics, politics and foreign policy. This is the outstanding Kolko at his best.
