A speed read is in order if you are trying to onboard with a lean organization. It comes with the basics forms used in the process (a CD accompanies the book). After reading this book, at the very least, one will be adept at reading and understanding the 'X' matrix and the other related documents of the hoshin kanri operating system (scan, plan, do, check, act).
