Review # 1 was written on 2012-07-11 00:00:00 Carmelo Spitale Stimulating collection of essays many based upon recent research projects. Brilliant contributions from Marsh and Walsham in particular. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-12-13 00:00:00 David Thieroff Oddly interesting. I'm not a big poetry fan, and I'm firmly in the Henry-Miller-is-loathsome camp, but the atmosphere of literary Greece in the 30's and 40's is lovingly captured and makes for oddly compelling reading. Reading this book did get me thinking about how much of Modern Greek poetry is translated into English by Edmund Keeley. Wouldn't that give non-Greek English speakers a rather lopsided view of the genre? |
