Review # 1 was written on 2015-09-30 00:00:00 Ken Norman Every Shut Eye Ain't Asleep is an anthology of poetry by African Americans. I really enjoyed this book because there are many different type of poems, different perspectives, and different topics. One of my favorites was titled Bible Study by Gloria Oden. This poem ended with the question, "Did the Old Guy trumpet us out of your upset or mine?" I really liked the use of the question at the end of the poem because it made me ponder and think about her perspective, my perspective, and the worlds perspective. It was also very interesting to read about the different poets and their background. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-04-24 00:00:00 Christof De Meyer I read this book for my African American Lit II class. I enjoyed reading all the different poems by the numerous amount of authors. There were some poems that were hard to understand & had to be broken down in class. But overall I did enjoy this book of poems. I'm not one for reading poems but since this was African American poems I did find it interesting. |
