I feel really conflicted about this book. On the one hand, its significance is clearly important. Seventeenth century New England towns were not as communal as historians depict them. They were governed by exclusive groups of shareholders. However, understanding the nitty gritty of this book is really tricky. Martin likes to show before he tells, so you might not get what his point is right away. Also, it would be helpful if he clearly defined the terms he uses. If the terms used in his primary sources don't work, then he should create some sort of new term that he clearly defines. The book just gets too confusing with his shareholders, inhabitants, residents, proprietors, sojourners, etc.

O zamanlar Ingiltere'de New Labour ruzgari esiyordu.
