Review # 1 was written on 2014-02-18 00:00:00 George Humpi O'Meara's style is rather dry, but his take on Afrikaner Nationalism is totally refreshing, and in many ways correct. He argues, that rather than being irrational Afrikaner Nationalism and the apartheid that was to follow it, was a direct consequence of a class struggle. Also of interest is how he takes a Gramscian view of the Afrikaner Nationalist movement. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-09-17 00:00:00 Grant Meek A short text that should provide a good basis for Marxist geography, Uneven Development is most of all a groundwork, elaborating concepts such as produced space and the contradiction between fixed and mobile capital (hence Detroit). Now, it's not without its flaws... being written in the '80s, there's the obligatory, unfortunate attempt to bring relativity theory into the mix... but those can easily be overlooked, and in many cases simply skipped. |
