I have had this book on my to read list for a few years. I initially saw it in NYC at Christmas time. I didn't buy it then, but just found it at a bargain bin at Albertsons grocery store for $5.00. (Thanks for mentioning your great find Sally. I found a couple fun Christmas books). Really love it. Beautiful illustrations(would love to own one of the ornaments that Michael Storrings has created). Great info about Christmas sites all over the five boroughs. You go on a mini Christmas tour of the city that will be such fun to do in person (and take a lot longer). Love the little Christmas oriented quotes he adds to each location he talks about. I would love to see "The Christmas Carol" at Madison Square Garden. He said paper snowflakes descend from the rafters onto the audience. The Christmas lights in Dyker Heights in Brooklyn(a neighborhood in Brooklyn that does some over the top decorating). Sounds amazing. That place was mentioned in another book I just read. The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx has an annual Holiday Train show where model trains and trolleys go across 6,000 sq. ft of famous NYC landmarks that have been re-created with bark, branches, leaves, seed, etc. There are many fun things mentioned I would love to see. Will pack this book next time I go to the big apple at Christmas.

In A Very New York Christmas Michael Storrings captures the most magical moments of the holiday season in New York City in dozens of wonderful watercolors, which also have been turned into beststelling gorgeous Christmas ornaments which isn't quite a suprise if you just look at the beautyness of all these stunning watercolor paintings. Michael Storrings protrays famous traditions like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the lightning of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and the Holiday Train Show at the Botanical Garden plus Cynthia Nixon (Miranda from the show Sex and the City) has written a wonderful foreword especially for this beautiful book, which I fell in love by the time I saw the cover. It's not only a wonderful book to own yourself and to look at, it is also a perfect holiday gift especially for anyone who has visited New York at least once. This book also offers dozens of suggestions to where to go for everyone who's planning to visit New York anytime soon. If you like New York, especially during the holiday season you need to get this book. It's so beautiful I could cry and it makes me want to hop on the next plane to go to New York so badly I can't even. This book is absolutely gorgeous and worth the money. So if you haven't picked it up for Christmas this time, you should definitely do so next time.
