Review # 1 was written on 2016-12-15 00:00:00 Cheryl Nelson I adored this book, finding that the family struggles were a bit out of the ordinary. I also enjoyed seeing the main character as a strong woman considering the time period of the book. Mali's headstrong attitude and independence inspired me throughout the book. I only remove one star because I was expecting this book to have some feminist aspect after Mali had rejected Richardson's advantages. Yet, she eventually is persuaded to engage in a relationship with him because he charms her and repeatedly hits on her. Overall, this book is a great read and deserves more recognition. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-09-11 00:00:00 Brian Conte Eminently readable storytelling. To my immense surprises found myself being drawn along in this author's narratives. Characters are portrayed in believable manner although at times I would have had them speaking and acting slightly differently, but then I am not a novelist. Look forward to further volumes in this 'ology'. |
