Review # 1 was written on 2009-09-06 00:00:00 Martin Ashton Good description of middlebrow fiction in the interwar years in England. Bracco does a good job of presenting historical context in which to make her argument and providing contemporary and current critical sources as well numerous well-explained examples in novels of the period. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-07-05 00:00:00 Miriam Tracey Another excellent work by Claud Cockburn, this is discussion of the bestselling fiction books in Britain from the turn of the century up to the outbreak of WWII. It carries no pretensions to academic writing, and is accessible to the layman. |
