Tiger Woods: A Biography by Bill Gutman is a non-fiction biography about Eldrick “Tiger” Woods and his golfing career. Tiger Woods was given his nickname by his father, hoping that he would have the same courage that his friend had who sacrificed his life for him at war. Ever since his father, Earl Woods, decided to play golf, he loved the sport and decided to share it with his son two years later; when he was born. Tiger first became interested in the sport when he was only 6 months old and pick up his first golf club when he first started to walk at the age of one. Gutman continues to argue about how well Tiger has been from the start. He was a born natural and has always succeeded. Gutman also argues through Earl that good souls keep on living. Even though his friend from war died, he still lives on in his son. Although I don’t play golf, I was able to connect with Tiger’s emotion towards golf when he first saw it. Gutman creates an interesting story by showing how Tiger has been so successful from such a young age. While I admire the book's chapter structure, it took some time to get used to reading a nonfiction book instead of a fictional novel. Finally, I found the ending to be great, summarizing his life to the point the book was written (1997). I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in golf or likes to read athlete’s biographies.

A strictly nice read , without any diversions, digressions, exaggerations & interpretations which i usually like ..... I do believe Woods was judged too harshly for his mistakes in his personal life , but that in no way should take away from the true sporting genius that he is .
