Review # 1 was written on 2021-01-12 00:00:00 Mr Rj Clark Short and laconic, the book is like the marriage of Science and Technology Studies with Development Studies. The aim of the book as stated by the author is: "not to provide a systematic overview of technologies for development. It is not a manual of development artefacts and their application. Rather it is an attempt to draw on critical thinking in development studies and science and technology studies to help us better understand the complex relationship between science, technology and development". And Smith truly delivers on his above objective |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-12-31 00:00:00 Luis R Ramos A good read on the Indian railways. Disappointing in a few areas because at times it sounds as if it is written by the Indian government and not a scholar that is independent. There is very little criticism or even mention of criticism which makes the book a little biased at places. Portrayal of facts has been done well. |
