I got interested in Thomas Edison after visiting his summer home and last workshop located in Fort Myers, Florida. This 1969 book is a picture book of Thomas Edison's life. Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and Thomas Edison hung out together in Florida and took camping trips together, as well as worked on projects together. Much of today's prosperity is based on Edison's inventions in the field of lighting, power and communications. Albert Einstein told Edison, "The great technical creators, of which you are one of the most successful, have produced in the course of a century an entirely new situation to which mankind has not yet adapted himself." (1927-1928) Henry Ford thought Edison had created millions of new jobs, made jobs more lucrative, and had done more to abolish poverty than all the politicians, statesmen and reformers put together. This book indicates that he was a genius who was a good friend and common man who took hard work to the greatest degree of success.

A very straightforward biographical comparison/contrast of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. Some things I learned (and which I did not know before): -Mr. Lincoln was a politician to the core, whereas Mr. Davis was not. -Mr. Lincoln took advantage of the presidency for political gain. -Mr. Lincoln despotically eliminated freedom of the press during the War. -Mr. Davis never censured the press, despite their constant criticisms of him. He truly believed in freedom of the press. -Varina Davis truly loved her husband. The book is informative, but quite dull.
