There are no other bibliographies that cover autobiographies and memoirs on childhood, and this is a popular genre for students. Purpose: In the book, Long includes bibliographical information and, in most cases, annotations for over 2,800 memoirs and autobiographies of childhood published between 1725 to 2007 (though most are from the last 100 years). The bibliography is organized and written in a way that will allow ease of use. Validity: The book is published by Libraries Unlimited and received favorable reviews from Choice and Booklist. Format: The book is a print reference and contains some listed information. Arrangement and Presentation: Entries are organized into 17 sections divided by themes and characteristics. Sections begin with a short introduction followed by the entries for the section which are arranged in alphabetical order by author. Entries for each book contain bibliographic information, a list of keywords, and short annotations (for most). Four appendices and three indexes are provided in the back of the book. Diversity: Many students enjoy reading about real people who faced struggles during their childhoods. This bibliography contains books by authors from a diversity of backgrounds. Students are sure to be able to find books that connect to them in some way and/or that interest them.
