Review # 1 was written on 2011-09-03 00:00:00 George Subleski Beware of a few pronunciation errors on the CD included with this book! On track 16, he totally missed the liason between "vous" and "anglais" in the question "Parlez-vous anglais?" It should be pronounced "parlei-vou zanglai." French is one of my two native languages and I regularly review French textbooks to catch things like this to help out French students. I don't intend to terrorize authors and proofreaders, but that is such a glaring error and one that beginning students of French really need to be most very aware of. Learning when and when not to form a liaison is a huge part of learning to pronounce French correctly! So, if I find too many more like that, this book will not receive five stars. If I find other errors, they shall be listed below. On page 147, "evident" should have an acute accent on the leading e: "évident." It is correctly printed with the accent at the top of the page, then under Track 51 it is without the accent. But on the whole, this turned out to be a rather decent French review. It would also be a good vocabulary builder and a good intro to pronunciation of French for the beginning student. Amusez-vous bien!!! |
