Review # 1 was written on 2009-02-21 00:00:00 Laura Lalor Excellent overview of South African history from the time of Early Man to Mbeki's presidency. The best part of Johnson's outline is his blistering critique of the Afrikaner regime and, more interestingly, the ANC post-1994. While I am the last person to say whether he goes too far, it was genuinely eye-opening to digest scathing criticism of a group of men and women who are more usually depicted as saints.

Review # 2 was written on 2014-12-29 00:00:00 Stephan Graham Johnson, contrariamente a Alistair Sparks, tanto in voga qui in Sud Africa (et pour cause) e' un vero storico e non un giornalista (e si vede!). Peccato che il fatto che sia seguace di Helen Suzman - e quindi non ANC - non gli abbia valso buona fama in SA (nemo propheta in patria: io l' ho trovato solo ad Amsterdam!)
