There really is no "finishing" this book. It's quite thick and chock full of nitty-gritty minutiae about his beautiful, beloved garden (Do visit Monitcello in the spring/summer) in old timey 18th century speak and obsolete units of measure that can't be easily converted to anything we are familiar with. However, if you someone who is interested in American History and/or a naturalist at heart, I do consider this an almost necessary text to thumb through. The man clearly had a natural curiosity and a deep-seeded (snort) love of all plants big and small and it was fascinating to delve into how his inner gears came together and worked. SPOILER ALERT: This motherfucker loved himself some peas.

While I didn't read every single word in this book, I still covered the length of it with a serious skimming, stoppin at points of interest. This is a fascinating history of Jefferson's gardening interests with other interesting tidbits among his journals and letters. Definately good for research about Jefferson and part of his life. I enjoyed reading the gardening records this famous American kept and knowing the weather here in my native Virginia during the late at the turn of the 18th century.
