Review # 1 was written on 2014-02-22 00:00:00 Debra Dufek If you're looking for good information on nonverbal communication in mediation, this isn't the book. Madonik uses cues from people's nonverbal behavior (such as where they look when they're thinking) in order to assess preferences, whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. She applies the new information with how to work with people in order to achieve resolution and then talks about how to mediate well. Although she has an interesting concept, and the ideas are very applicable, it seemed a little misleading. The ideas of nonverbal communication have a lot more to do with a party's preferences. She needed more information about body language specifics and how to "read" someone. The information given was by no means useless, just not nearly as useful as it should have been. |
