Review # 1 was written on 2011-11-07 00:00:00 Brian Mcintyre The impulse to play is far more widespread than just us placental mammals. Burghardt performs a sweeping inspection of comparative studies on animal play and manages to rekindle the theory of play as an impulse driven by a combo of surplus resources and safe contexts. To understate, "it's a bit more complex than that," but you'll take my word for it or read the book. Surely still the best book on animal play I've read. |
