Review # 1 was written on 2012-04-11 00:00:00 Chad Slatten I bought this book, on impulse, on my very last day as Writer in Residence at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. There bookstore had so many good books; this was one of them. Finally reading it now, six months after leaving Woodstock, Vermont, I'm learning so much that I wish I'd known then.

Review # 2 was written on 2008-03-03 00:00:00 Donald Sherry An odd book, spotty, but chuck full of history and great historical and current photos. It's not hesitant to reveal how rough, crude and uncaring Vermonters could be about their land. Re-reading for the country stores book in progress.
