Review # 1 was written on 2007-03-23 00:00:00 Jeffrey Pulaski Oh, how I drool. Music videos get a bad rap sometimes because of their inherently commercial nature, but there are some f'ing amazing artists and directors out there in the genre doing stuff that just pushes all sorts of artistic boundaries. Sometimes I really just can't understand why no one else seems to be as completely obsessed with music video as I am. This book is a gorgeous gorgeous overview of some of the most innovative directors working today. Sure it'll be outdated within a year, but as a static reference and archive it is invaluable. If only I had the funding to start a serious music video archive... |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-01-25 00:00:00 Joseph Tapia I read this for my dissertation literature review and found the subject matter and field work so interesting. This book has planted a seed for me to investigate further music in every day life, it was really enjoyable and clearly set its aims using a plethora of evidence. |
