Review # 1 was written on 2010-10-12 00:00:00 Nah Son this is one of my favorite gender anthologies. the most useful essays for me are the calvin thomas (on the feminist potentiality of the male anus via abjectifying writing practices); the judith gardiner (on the importance of age and developmental categories to understanding gender); and the judith/jack halberstam (on heterosexual conversion films and the threat of female masculinity). |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-01-03 00:00:00 Paul Pace Understanding of many of the texts in this book presupposes a reading of many other works on feminist theory. In other cases, the essays jump around, trying to combine disparate ideas under one heading to various degrees of success. Not great for someone who has only just entered this field of study. It's probably better for someone who already has a firm footing in the field. |
